Women organizations raise more than $20,000 in two events at Florence Events Center

the leadership of two
Florence-area women’s groups.
Soroptomist International of
Florence invited community
members to design a themed
bra for Bras for the Cause, rais-
ing money for scholarships and
to improve the lives of women
and girls in local communities
and throughout the world. An
auction of the 12 bras and
desserts netted more than
$10,000 on Saturday night —
and a lot of fun.
The next night, PEO Chapter
FQ Florence held “Wine, Women
and Who Knows What?” The
wine tasting featured Campbell
Lane Winery and special pourers
from PEO. A large silent auction
featured themed gift baskets, art,
textiles and more.
According to PEO member
Paula Becker, PEO raised more
than $12,000. A scholarship fund
in the name of Bev Holman, who
passed away in January, will
receive $2,000 from the totals.
Pavilion Catering provided
dinner for the Soroptomists and
specialized hors d’oeuvres for the
PEO wine tasting.
Although both Soroptomist
and PEO are women-centric
organizations, the events were
co-ed.
