BIRTHS
OBITUARIES
MACDOUGALL—Juanita
MacDougall, known to her
friends
as
“ M a m a
Nita,” died of
breast cancer
in her home
Aug. 23, 2016,
while
sur-
rounded by
members of
her family.
Juanita
Nita was
MacDougall
born Juanita
Angeline Blalock on Nov. 28,
1949, to Robert L. Blalock and
Mable L. Hunt, in Glendale, Calif.
Nita loved music and was a
talented musician throughout her
life, which she shared openly
with family, friends and whoev-
er would listen.
She also had a deep love for
animals and often referred to
them as her furry friends. It
wouldn’t be strange to hear that
she had taken in a stray and
given it a good home.
She founded and owned sev-
eral businesses in Hood River
over the years, including Gifted
Grooming and Mama Nita’s
Karaoke.
She was also immensely car-
ing and would often take in
someone who was struggling in
one way or another, give them a
job, a shoulder, friendly advice
and a kick in the pants if that’s
what they needed.
Nita overcame incredible
odds throughout her life and was
a true survivor in every way. She
knew what it was to struggle.
She also knew what it was to get
back up and be better and more
successful than ever before and
had no problem helping others
do the same, simply out of the
goodness of her heart.
She will forever be in the
hearts of anyone who came into
contact with her.
Nita is survived by her broth-
ers: Robert “Bob” Blalock, Lee
Blalock, Merlin Jenson; and sis-
ters: Donna Prewett and Paulette
Zazueta; her children: Lloyd
“Lee” Corwin, Lela Lowe,
Cindy Farleigh and Cable
Parsons; and several grandchil-
dren, great-grandchildren, nieces
and nephews.

moving to Medford, Ore., she
married Daniel L. Allison in 1990.
In 2003, Susan and Daniel moved
