On Saturday, Aug. 27,
about 60 people participat-
ed in the Salmon Run 5K,
hosted by the Siuslaw
Watershed Council in
memory of Shiloh
Sundstrom, who started the
event 10 years ago. The
event also included a 3K
walk for all ages, raffle
prizes, commemorative T-
shirts and live music per-
formed by KUSH later that
evening.
All money raised went
to support SWC education-
al programs.
Participants who fin-
ished first in each division
received a handmade
wooden medal.
Steven Moser was the
overall men’s winner in the
5K with a time of 18:58.
Lori Carroll won the
women’s 5K in 23:07.
“It means a lot to see so
many people turn out for
this event,” said Johnny
Sundstrom, a member of
the SWC and father of
Shiloh. “He believed in
giving back, and having
this race up and running
again in his memory and
rasing money for conserva-
tion education and projects
is a wonderful way of con-
tinuing his legacy.”
