HAMPSON —Patricia
“Tish” Adams Hampson
passed away
peacefully

third daughter to the family
home in Maplewood, N.J.
Seven years later, her broth-
er, Heman, added more happi-
ness to her loving and active
childhood.
Patricia married Howard
“Bud” Hampson in June 1940
and enjoyed 63 years of mar-
riage before his passing in
2004 in Florence.
Her older twin sisters, Helen
and Grace, and her daughter,
Patricia, preceded her in death
as well.
Patricia will be missed by
her younger brother, Heman,
(Fort Collins, Colo.); daughter,
Dona Candela (Florence,
Ore.); and son, Howard
Hampson
(Castle
Rock,
Colo.); six grandchildren,
seven
great-grandchildren,
seven nieces and three
nephews.
Patricia was a lifelong mem-
ber of the Presbyterian Church
and gave decades of service in
many congregations in New
Jersey, California and Oregon.
Her faith guided her during her
long and loving lifetime.
A celebration of her life will
be held Saturday, Sept. 17, at 1
p.m., at the Presbyterian
Church of the Siuslaw, 3996
Highway 101 in Florence.

BEHRINGER —Robert
“Bob” Ernest Behringer, of
Florence, passed away Aug.
22, 2016.
He spent his last days at
home, as he wished, and
passed away surrounded by his
family.
Bob
was
born
in
Springfield, Mass., May 18,
1931, the second son of Agnes
Christine Behringer (nee
Lampron) and Otto John
Behringer.
He grew up in the
Springfield area and graduated
from Oxford High School
before earning a bachelor’s
degree
from
Worcester
P o l y t e c h -
nic Institute in 1953.
He then entered graduate
school at the University of
California
at Berkeley,
where he
met
Fe
Clara Paez
while she
was pursu-
ing
her
m a s t e r ’s
degree in
Robert
nursing.
Behringer
T h e y
were married June 10, 1956, in
Manila, the Philippines, and
Bob completed his Ph.D.
degree in physics in 1958.
During his career, he
worked as a researcher, profes-
sor and consultant. However,
most of his working life was
spent with the U.S. Office of
Naval Research in the support
of basic and applied research
of interest to the U.S. Navy.
He and Fe retired to live on
the Oregon coast, where he
loved bowling, being outdoors
and the people of Florence.
Bob was preceded in death
by his brother, Don, with
whom he loved to hike and
play cribbage.
Bob is survived by his wife
of 60 years, Fe, along with
their five children: Richard,
Patricia (Pat), Jacqueline,
Karen (Mark) and Ernest
(Rachel); and five grandchil-
dren: Brita, Addie, Joseph,
Hannah and Joshua.
Following his request, he
was cremated.
Bob was a very generous
man and enjoyed donating to a
variety of charities. To honor
his giving spirit, please make a

Bob’s final days.
A funeral mass will take
place Tuesday, Aug. 30, at 11
a.m., at St. Mary’s Catholic
Church, 85060 Highway 101
S., in Florence.
A reception will immediate-
ly follow.

Bolin

passed away
peacefully,
July
14,
2016, loved
by all.
Sixteen
days earlier,
she turned
100 and the
Hazel
Mayor of
Wilkinson
Florence
gave her a certificate. It was a
great accomplishment for her.
Betty was born in Mohawk,
Ore., June 28, 1916, to parents
Joseph and Norma Bolin. She
had two brothers, Stanley and
Fred, both of whom preceded
her in death
Betty went to school in
Coburg, Ore., and on Oct. 6,
1934, married Wayne William
Wilkinson and moved to
Swisshome, Ore. Indian Creek
is where they made their
home.
Betty loved her family and
the outdoors. She made the
best mincemeat pie and loved
picking wild blackberries for
jams and pies.
Betty is survived by her
children: Kathleen (Ivan)
Norris, Norma F Hughes,
Harry Wilkinson and Jack
(Judy) Wilkinson.
Leland Wilkinson preceded
her in death.
She is also survived by
her
grandchildren:
Ivan
(Kathleen) Darrell, Joe and
Elizabeth Norris, Tina (Glenn)
Bottensek, Todd (Christine)
Wilkinson, Ernest and Mike
Hughes and Paula (Don) Duey.
Andy Wilkinson preceded
her in death.
Her great-grandchildren are:

Siuslaw Valley Fire and
Rescue board meetings are
now available to watch on the
Florence Government Access
Channel, Channel 191, and
online.
On April 20, the board of
directors voted to approve
adding video taping services
to the budget, totalling about
$3,000 per year.
The board decided to
record meetings after it was
brought up in an earlier board
meeting.
“For the public it gives
them another way to get more
information from their living
rooms and reaches more peo-
ple,” one audience member
said.

SNOW—Florence native
and Siuslaw High School
graduate Bradley Snow
joined the U.S. Air Force on
Feb. 23, 2016.
He has spent the past six
months at Lackland Air Force
Base in San Antonio, Texas.
He graduated from Basic
Training in April and spent
another 13 weeks of Security
Forces training.
He will be stationed at
Moody Air Force Base in
southern Georgia.

Soroptimists seeking award applicants
Soroptimist International
Club of Florence (SIF) is
seeking applicants for its
annual “Live Your Dream
Award.”
This award is for a single
woman who is head of house-
hold and wants to further her
education.
The funds are given direct-
ly to the individual to offset
living expenses while attend-
ing school.
Last , SIF gave $1,000 to a
local woman whose applica-
tion was then forwarded to
the Soroptimist International
of the Americas (SIA)
Northwest Region to be
included in a pool for an
additional award.
The Florence woman was
selected to receive an award
of $1,500.
The application period is
open through Nov. 15.
