Hope
The reason why we volunteer,
raise money, donate and walk
with American Cancer Society
hy participate in Florence’s
Relay For Life, put together
a team to raise money, volun-
teer on a committee or buy a luminaria?
Why? Research, that’s why!
Research that gives:
HOPE that there will not be a call
with the news that a dear friend has
advance lymphoma.
HOPE that your dear friend/mother/
sister learns that there is a cure when
she is diagnosed with breast, ovarian
or cervical cancers.
HOPE that your dear friend/father/
brother learns that there is a cure for
prostate, testicular or breast cancer.
HOPE that you don’t get a call about

cancer and know that this person
whom you love and the people in their
lives have a rough road ahead.
HOPE that when you do get that call
you know that the research, that Relay
For Life supports, will give that person
and the people in their lives the sup-
port they need and HOPE FOR A
CURE!
HOPE that the next call about cancer
is from that person you love and they
are cancer free.
Research is expensive. So, if you
want hope, then research must be sup-
ported. Volunteer, donate and help
raise money for research, support and
the ultimate cure.
How American Cancer Society is saving lives
As the world’s largest movement to
end cancer, 4 million people across the
globe participate in the more than 6,000
American Cancer Society Relay For
Life events held each year.
Together with its millions of support-
ers, the American Cancer Society saves
lives by helping people stay well and
get well, by finding cures and by fight-
ing back.
It is the largest private, not-for-profit
funder of cancer research and has
played a role in nearly every cancer
breakthrough in recent history.
More than $4 billion on cancer
research since 1946 has:
Helped people take steps to prevent
cancer or find it at its earliest, most
treatable stage.
Developed guidelines for recom-
mended screening tests, so people
know what tests they need to help pre-
vent cancer or find it early.
Created nutrition and physical
activity guidelines to help people eat
healthy and get active.
