“Lights! Camera! Cure!”
at this year’s Relay For
Life sound stage.

more with a full line-up of artists,
playing throughout
the 24-hour event.
Featured this year
is Florence-area
performer Jason
Wood and his bevy
of vocal students,
from 5 to 6 p.m. on
Saturday, Aug. 13.
Wood is not a
stranger to the arts.
He has been studying and per-
forming voice, acting, piano
and improv in Florence and Los
Angeles for more than 27 years.
Continuing with the tradition,
he currently instructs 30 stu-
dents, varying from 6 to 80
years old, in both voice and
piano. He also holds the title of
residential music
director for
Children’s
Repertory of Oregon
Workshops
(CROW).
They say that
those who can’t do,
teach. But this isn’t
the case. Wood had
the privilege of
playing Matron “Mama” Morton
in Last Resort Player’s 2015 pro-
duction of “Chicago” and is cur-
rently working on bringing a new
character to Florence’s stage.
Wood is excited to bring his tal-
ents to Relay For Life again. He
has a personal connection to the
cause, as his mother is a cancer
survivor.
