Local OHA hosts first Youth Day event
The Oregon Hunters Association
— Siuslaw Chapter recemtly held
it’s first annual Youth Day event,
which was a big success.
During this free event that parents
or guardians were required to attend
with their child, clay targets, archery
and .22-caliber rifles were intro-
duced to the participants. Following
a morning of instruction, partici-
pants then enjoyed a barbecue lunch.
Sponsors of the event included:
ODFW, which donated the use of its
educational trailer; Siuslaw Rod and
Gun Club, for the use of the range;
Grocery Outlet, which donated food
for lunch; and Big Dog Donuts,
which provided breakfast.
In addition, OSP Fish and Wildlife
Division Troopers Todd Cutsforth
and Lee Farrar talked with the group
about safe fishing and hunting prac-
tices, and poaching and its detriment
to wildlife and communities.
The event was also made success-
ful with the help of volunteers, who
gave their time to assist with the
educational event.
