Siuslaw Alumni Assoc-
iation (SAA) scholarships are
given each year to graduating
seniors who plan to attend a
college and/or trade school.
These scholarships are sole-
ly supported by donations to
the SAA Scholarship Fund
and by all proceeds from the
All-Class Reunion Banquet
Raffle, held the second
Saturday in September.
This year, SAA awarded
two 2016 scholarships, each
for $3,500.
Hannah Bartlett, a 4.0 stu-
dent, will be attending George
Fox University in Newberg,
Ore., and then transferring to
Oregon State University to
study physical therapy.
While attending Siuslaw,
she was the junior class presi-
dent, a member of the
National Honor Society and
participated in Leadership
Class, Key Club and Interact
Club.
Bartlett organized a com-
munity-wide clothing drive
for the needy with funds
received going to the student
body for a motivational speak-
er at the school. She also
found time for sports, playing
on the softball team and being
voted volleyball MVP this
year.

In school, she was a mem-
ber of the National Honor
Society, was involved with
Key Club and Interact Club
and hosted a high school radio
show.
She was very involved in
activities to help her commu-
nity, including Habitat for
Humanity, the humane socie-
ty, Florence Food Bank and a
homeless
shelter
with
Operation Christmas Child.
An accomplished athlete,
Siegel repeated as the 4A state
girls 100-meter hurdles cham-
pion, was a member of the
state champion cross country
team and got to run on the
winning high school 4x400
relay team at the IAAF World
Championships in Portland.
Siegel has been accepted as
a walk-on at the UI for track
and field.

‘Feed Your Mind’ at Summer Reading program
In conjunction with the
Siuslaw Public Library’s Adult
Summer Reading program, the
Friends of the Library will hold
a free fun-filled food and game
event.
This “Feed Your Mind,”
event will be Tuesday, July 19,
from noon to 3 p.m., in the
Bromley Room at the main
branch on Ninth Street.
In keeping with this year’s
Adult Summer Reading theme,
“Exercise Your Mind,” the
Friends are featuring food and
games to feed your brain.
