Class Act Theatre (CAT) opened its doors officially Saturday
for a ribbon cutting and free “class act” variety show.
Florence Area Chamber of Commerce ambassadors and
Mayor Joe Henry assisted owners David and Rosemary Lauria
with cutting the ribbon, attended by more than 40 people.
Dancers, singers, actors and other performers filled the stage
at the evening’s show in front of a full house.
Luv in Art featuring Kyle Lind launches Saturday
Luv in Art, a local compa-
ny promoting emerging
artists, is hosting a free open-
ing for their private museum
and mobile art gallery this
Saturday, July 16, in the
quaint town of Alsea, Ore.
The event, being held on a
310-acre property in the
Siuslaw National Forest, will
feature the work of renowned
artist Kyle Lind of Florence,
the world’s brightest laser
beam, live music, Tyee Wine
Cellars, a selection of food,
an art auction presented by
Eugene Magazine, free camp-
ing and more.
The Luv in Art Museum is
the brainchild of Dale Cripps,
whom after being so moved
by Lind’s work decided to
transform a large portion of
his estate into a museum ded-
icated to Lind and eventually
other inspiring artists. It fea-
tures an entire building
designed after the artists
“Home Series” that houses
many of his works.
Also on display will be
Lind’s 9-by-14-foot drawing
“Cartoone in the Interior of an
Atom,” which took Lind over
30 years to complete.
Additionally, an entire wing
of Cripps’ estate houses the
rest of the collection.
The mobile art gallery,
which will debut at this year’s
Art and the Vineyard in
Eugene, consists of 40 4-foot-
by-8-foot frames with hard-
wood panels that can be
arranged in many orienta-
tions. Also included is a 20-
foot enclosed trailer fully fin-
ished to fine art gallery stan-
dards.
The panels will feature a
handsome selection of large
format prints in the form of
blankets and tapestries, while
the trailer will house signed
and numbered prints and orig-
inals.
Lind, 74, was featured in
Eugene Magazine and Eugene
Weekly and is known as the
Father of Process Art, an
artistic method in which the
end result is not necessarily
the focus of the artist. Rather
the image becomes what it is
intended to be over time, nat-
urally. He utilizes intense
meditation and yoga to pro-
duce images sometimes 30 or
more years in the making.
Lind is known for his
involvement
during
the
Californian 1960s love move-
ment alongside idols such as
Frank Zappa, Timothy Leary,
Salvador Dali and Flea (The
Red Hot Chili Peppers). His
involvement with these peo-
ple is chronicled is his life’s
work, “God Art Me Fun,” a
massive coffee table book.
The book will also available
at Luv in Art.
Nu-Salt Laser will be pro-
viding the world’s brightest
laser beam which will be
piercing through the night sky
acting as a beacon, leading
the way to the event. It is six
times more visible than the
brightest ordinary searchlight
and can be seen from neigh-
boring cities.
