She is most noted for her contemporary portraiture, which integrates Asiatic abstracts adorning delicate female forms. This exhibit expands that repertoire with over 20 new pieces portraying richly colored imagery high- lighting her personal interest in symbology and mysticism. In “L’Ocean de Fleurs,” Phillips intertwines portraiture with shifting visual planes of starlit indigo skies and deep sea green waters. Much of the exhibit portrays underworld themes where jelly fish and bouquets of lotus flowers co- exist amidst treasures of the sea. Phillips says, “This symbol- ism depicts the symbiotic rela- tionship of death and rebirth,” and an illumination of the ebb and flow of her creative process. Collectively the show deliv- ers a uniquely mysterious sense of unconscious meditations and creative explorations. Kenneth B Art Studios is at 1458 First St., in Old Town Florence.
