Shakespeare’s ‘The Tempest’ comes to Bandon
BANDON — The Inland Isle Players, a
Northern California based troop, will
present Shakespeare’s culminating play
“The Tempest” at the Sprague
Community Theater in Bandon on
Saturday, July 23, at 7 p.m.
In this production of “The Tempest,”
acting and Eurythmy (a movement art that
makes the spoken word and musical tones
visible through gesture), live original
music and traditional Elizabethan cos-
tumes come together to bring to life
Prospero’s magical Island.
Shipwrecked noblemen and drunkards
converge with fairy-spirits, a monster, the
exiled Duke of Milan (Prospero) and his
daughter in a wondrous moment of des-
tiny. In the words of Prospero, “The rarer
action is in virtue than in vengeance.”
Shakespeare reveals Prospero’s inner
struggle when he is faced with his ene-
mies: to resolve on vengeance or forgive-
ness.
The Inland Isle Players invite all to this
dramatic and far reaching tale of love,
humor and redemption that speaks to the
deepest part in each of us.
Under the directorship of Wendy Poer,
the Inland Isle Players have also per-

July 4, but the public is invited to view
the City of Coos Bay fireworks display
from the museum’s south plaza.
Parking will be available in the north
side parking lot.
The museum will be offering fun
youth activities and music on the south
plaza starting at 7 p.m. Popcorn, hot
dogs, snacks and warm beverages will
be available at modest prices.
This is a non-alcohol, family event.
Everyone is encouraged to bring chairs
and blankets, and enjoy the evening at the
museum, 1210 N. Front St.

Advance tickets are $18 and can be
purchased at Bandon Frame, Bandon
Mercantile, Old World Antiques (Coos
Bay) and the Coos Bay visitor center.
Tickets at the door are $20. Sprague
