The Jane Lynch-starring sit-
com didn’t last long, but it
returns to play off stories that
didn’t air previously. In “An-
gel Probation,” Amy (Lynch)
serves just that after she’s
caught in the act of cheating
— resulting in the loss of her
powers. To get them back,
she has to perform a series of
good deeds, some involving
her usual beneficiary Allison
(Maggie Lawson). Another
new episode, featuring guest
star Laura Bell Bundy (“Hart
of Dixie”), follows.

New York is a location again
for one of television’s annual
displays of color in the sky,
as this event marks its 40th
anniversary of signifying
the country’s celebration of
Independence Day. The early
part of the show will boast
performances by musical guests
including Kenny Chesney,
Meghan Trainor and 5 Seconds
of Summer — but as the hour
gets later, eyes will be directed
upward for the bountiful
pyrotechnics. “Today’s” Willie
Geist and Tamron Hall host.
