The Rick and Corrine Gehlke All-Star Baseball Tournament played host to three divisons —
Rookies, Minors and Majors — with 12 teams competing within each division over Father’s
Day weekend at Miller Park. In addition to free baseball for spectators, the tournament,
organized by the Siuslaw Baseball Association (SBA), also had hamburgers, hot dogs, pulled
pork sandwiches, biscuits and gravy, chili Frito boats, soda, Gatorade and more available for
purchase. Funds raised went to support the SBA program. On hand for the event and cook-
ing up burgers and hot dogs was Florence Mayor Joe Henry. When the final scores were tal-
lied, the top three teams in each division were: Rookies — first place North Bend, second
place Siuslaw and third place Tillamook; Minors — first place Coos Bay, second place
Tillamook and third place Siuslaw; Majors — first place Coos Bay, second place Umpqua
Valley Blue and third place Newport.
