Siuslaw Public Library — You can read green,
watch green, craft green and go green at the
Siuslaw Public Library District. This year, stop by the
Siuslaw Public Library’s booth to see amazing crafts
made from discarded library books, and then learn
how to do it yourself with selections from the
library’s paper arts collection. The Siuslaw Public
Library District can also help you and your family go
green in ways you may not expect. Are you ready to
build your own solar cell? Learn how at the library.
Interested in turning that thrift store find into some-
thing worthy of your living room? We can help with
that too. From books about greener building to sal-
vaged art, from cleaner cleaning supplies to envi-
ronmental activism, we offer dozens of books
focused on greener living. The library is also your
single stop for accessing free e-books and down-
loadable audiobooks, online magazine articles and
materials that will get you online and off the paper.
At the library you can even access a Speck device
that monitors your indoor air quality. Stop by to learn
more about the many services and materials you
can access at the library. Or sign up for this year’s
summer reading program. Wherever you want to go,
the Siuslaw Public Library can help you make the
journey.
The Heat Pump Store — One of the most ener-
gy-efficient and desirable technological upgrades for
electrically heated homes is the ductless heat
pump, which can be used as an independent heat-
ing source or booster for other electrical heating
systems including baseboard and wall heaters. You
can use a ductless heat pump to replace space
heaters, electrical heating systems and both indoor
and outdoor heaters. Commercially available for
more than 20 years, ductless technology offers dis-
tinct advantages and cost savings over duct-based
pumps. Many companies manufacture ductless heat
pumps, and the efficient units avoid heat losses due
to cycling and ductwork inefficiencies.
