“Living green” is not just a catch phrase anymore. It’s
the direction more and more people are taking as the
importance of protecting the environment stays in the
forefront. Now, “living green” means making changes to
lifestyles — changes that are environmentally friendly
and sustainable.
To further these efforts, Green Fair presenters
Siuslaw News and KCST Coast Radio worked with an
active organizing committee that strives to improve the
fair experience each year and hopes that this year’s fair
will be the best ever.
Bring the family and come celebrate community while
immersing yourself in the pleasures of sustainability.
Exhibits, seminars and interactive activities are sched-
uled throughout the day at the FEC, 715 Quince St.
Admission to the Green Fair is free.
A new addition this year is the Give and Take event,
which is being run by the Oregon Coast Humane
Society and Thrift Store.
Donate small items such as books, DVDs and CDs,
small furniture, appliances, clothes, shoes, toys and
more. Bring a maximum of two of these unwanted
items to the FEC beginning at 9 a.m. Items will be
tagged with a value and given a voucher for that
amount. Find another item of equal or lesser value and
give it a new home.
No cash refunds; this is a simple exchange. Those
who find an item valued at more than their voucher can
pay the difference. All proceeds and leftover items will
be donated to the OCHS Thrift Store.
Whether it is about recycling, using less energy or
protecting the soil, air and food we eat, the Florence
Green Fair will offer ideas and solutions for adopting a
greener lifestyle.
