OBITUARIES
FLEMING —Loren
Franklin Fleming, a longtime
Florence and
Mapleton
resident, died
at his home
on Memorial
Day,
May
30, 2016.
Loren was
born Feb. 27,
in
Loren Fleming 1958,
Oakridge,
Ore. He was proud to be a fifth
generation Oregonian.
Loren met and married his
wife, Debra Randall, in 1994.
Together they shared a full life
and love of music, history, gar-
dening, camping and exploring.
Loren was a master carpen-
ter, an accomplished musician
and singer/songwriter, an
author and artist. As a musi-
cian, he used the name “Loren
Franklin” to create four CDs of
original music.
His music, reflecting stories
of the people and places he has
known, has been shared all
over the world. He loved
nature, creating and building.
He was an avid student of
Native American history, as
well as the history of his pio-
neer ancestors.
Loren will be remembered as
an independent and truly talent-
ed individual.
He is survived by his wife
Debra; daughter Malea; grand-
daughter, Mya; and extra spe-
cial nieces: Lydia Randall of
Sedro Woolley, Wash., and
Natasha Vazquez of Kettening,
Ohio.
At his request, no service
will be held. A private gather-
ing will be held at Loren’s
favorite spot in the Eastern
Oregon desert.

She was widowed in 2000
and married Melvin Mullins in
Florence in
2002.
Hers was a
life
well-
lived. She
loved music
and especial-
ly loved to
sing.
She
loved uncon- Laura Mullins
d i t i o n a l l y,
laughed at herself (and there
was plenty to laugh at) and let
anyone win when they were
playing games.
Her home and heart were
always open to people and
there was always room at the
table for surprise dinner guests.
Her smile was infectious, put-
ting anyone at ease.
When she was widowed
after 59 years of marriage to
Earl Preston, she never gave up
on living. At age 82, she fell in
love again and married Melvin
Mullins, who loved and tender-
ly cared for her until she went
into the arms of her savior.
With all her heart she wanted
people to know her Jesus. She
loved Him with her whole
being and served Him faithful-
ly her whole life. Wherever she
lived, she became a vital mem-
ber of her church. In retire-
ment, she and Earl served with
Mobile Missionary Assistance
Program (MMAP), working on
over 120 construction projects
throughout the country.
She is survived by two
daughters, four grandchildren
and five great-grandchildren.
There will be much rejoicing
of her life and legacy on
Friday, June 10, at 10 a.m., at
Florence Church of the
Nazarene, 1536 12th St. Please
make any donations in her
name to Florence Church of the
Nazarene.
