MASON-IVIE—Barbara
Genevieve Mason-Ivie, 84,
beloved mother, formerly of
Florence, passed away May 17,
2016, surrounded by her family
at her residence in Redmond,
Ore.
Gen was born in Everton,
Mo., to Robert “Casey” and
Georgia Jones on July 21, 1931.
Later, the family moved to
Swisshome, Ore., where she
attended school in Mapleton.
Following graduation, she
married her high school sweet-
heart Jim Mason in June of
1949. They lived on the Mason
Family farm along the Siuslaw
River for many years, raising
cattle, growing wonderful gar-
dens and spending many sum-
mers Salmon fishing on board
the “Jimbo.”
Gen worked for the Mapleton
School District, first as a bus
driver and then as a library aide
at the high school. Later, she
became a receptionist for
Davidson Industries, which she
truly enjoyed.
As a long-time Mapleton res-
ident, she touched many lives
with her personality and kind
words. She was very generous
and always giving of her time
and effort to countless friends in
the community.
She was passionate about her
cooking, gardening and always
active with church and school
activities.
Gen was preceded in death
by her parents, Casey and
Georgia Jones; a brother, Bob
Jones of Eureka, Calif; and her
beloved husband, Jim.
Survivors include: her broth-
er, Jack Jones, of Medford,
Ore.; her daughter, Pam, and
son-in-law, Greg Cole, of
Sisters, Ore.; her son, Duane,
and daughter-in-law, Gloria
Mason, of Sunriver, Ore.; five
grandchildren and five great-
grandchildren.
Services will be held at New
Life Lutheran Church in
Florence on Saturday, June 4, at
11 a.m., with a reception fol-
lowing.
A private family ceremony
will be held at the Mapleton
Pioneer Cemetery.
At her request, donations can
be made to New Life Lutheran
Church of Florence, Episcopal
Church of the Transfiguration
in
Sisters,
Mapleton
Community Church or Sisters-
Redmond Hospice.
ALBRIGHT —Melinda
Albright, 74, of Longview,
Wash., and formerly of
Florence, passed away at home
May 13, 2016.
She was born Nov. 29, 1941,
to Mildred Rose and Melvin
Parker Orr.
She is survived by her hus-
band, Richard Albright; her
daughter, Thea Albright; grand-
daughter, Tesna Albright Hall;
her brother, Melvin Orr; nieces,
Angela Breidenthal (née Orr)
and Mindy Orr; and several
grandnieces and grandnephews;
her cousins: Lawrence Meyer,
Andrea Robinson (née Meyer),
David Meyer and Carson
Meyer; and her sister-in-law,
Dawn Orr (née Bowlby).
She was preceded in death by
her parents, Melvin Parker Orr
and Mildred Mae Orr (née
Rose); and her younger brother,
Michael Kent Orr.
Donating in her name can be
made to your local hospice or
The Elephant Sanctuary in
Tennessee.

HATCH—Donald F. (Joey)
Hatch, of Florence, passed
away May 8, 2016.
Joey was born Dec. 6, 1938,
in the Florence area. His parents
were Ronald Hatch and Elinor
Boling.
He worked his entire life as a
cafeteria supervisor.
Joey was a kind man with a
sense of humor. He was a fine
pianist and music was his life’s
passion. He played for many
programs and people.
Joey loved to help the ele-
mentary school children with
their music programs.
Antiques was his favorite
past-time with many hours of
browsing and buying.
Preceding him in death was
his father, Ronald Hatch, and
his mother, Elinor Boling
Heisler.
Survivors include his sister,
Priscilla Hafner; his brother,
Theodore Hatch; step-sister,
Connie Smith; step-brothers:
Bill, Robert and Jack Heisler;
plus a long list of friends and
