Rainbow trout stocking
is underway in many loca-
tions along the mid coast.
Look at the stocking report

son.
Fishing for the various
warm water fish species is
good this time of year as
fish move to the shallows
for spawning. There are
numerous lakes in the
Florence area that can pro-
vide good opportunity and
have both boat and bank
access.

At the close of last weekend’s
OSAA 4A state track and field meet at
U of O’s historic Hayward Field in
Eugene, Siuslaw took away some of
its own bit of history with two indi-
vidual state titles and a new school
record.
Senior Mikaela Siegel and junior
Destinie Tatum each brought home
gold in their events, along with a new
Siuslaw High School record in the
800 meters for Tatum.
For Siegel, it was an especially
sweet victory in the 100-meter hur-
dles that meant retaining the crown
she captured last year, along with set-
ting the season’s fastest mark in the
4A (15.61). She also currently holds
the school record with last year’s
