Concert to benefit
Florence Food Share
Spring is in the air and the
rhododendrons are in bloom.
This means many more visi-
tors to Florence and to
Florence Food Share.
The organization’s stock of
food is low and it is in need
of many kinds of foods.
The Pacific Coast Wind
Ensemble (PCWE) has made
Florence Food Share the ben-
eficiary of its next concert on
Sunday, May 15, beginning
at 2:30 p.m., at New Life
Lutheran Church, located
next to Florence Food Share.
PCWE is a tax-exempt
community concert band that
plays several kinds of music

including Spanish numbers,
Broadway show tunes and
classical compositions.
PCWE is suggesting a tax-
deductible $10 donation for
the Florence Free Lunch pro-
gram and a can or two of
food or other non-perishable
food item for Florence Food
Share for admission to the
concert.
The Food Share is current-
ly most in need of peanut
butter, canned meat (such as
tuna or chicken), baby for-
mula, Hamburger Helper or
like product, mac ’n cheese,
tomato products of all types,
flour, sugar and coffee.

oroptimist International of Florence created Mother’s Day gift baskets for the new and expectant moms
who are clients at the Caring Pregnancy Center. Each basket contains personal care items and a taste of
chocolate for each recipient. This project is entirely funded with club out-of-pocket funds. Soroptimist is
a womens service club that serves the local community and participates in projects aimed to improve the lives
and living conditions of women worldwide. Any woman seeking more information about membership can con-

‘Survivor’ celebrity to speak at faith conference

“Samoa” and “Blood vs.
Water,” will speak at the
Coastal Conference on faith.
The public is invited to
attend the Revival Florence’s
Christian cross-denomination-
al event, which will be held at
Florence Christian Church on
Saturday, June 4, from 9 a.m.
to 3 p.m.
L OOKING

The event will feature
Morett, an inspirational speak-
er, who will share with both
men and women about being a
survivor and “finishing strong”
in their faith.
Revival Florence is a group
of Christ-loving individuals
from various local churches,
who have come together to
bring this event to the commu-
nity.
Seating is limited and online
registration is encouraged.
Cost is $10 in advance or $15
at the door (if available seat-
ing), which includes lunch.
Doors open at 8 a.m.
“We are pleased to bring
such a high caliber speaker
into our community,” said
event chairperson Bill Spect,
“it is going to be such
an encouraging and uplift-
ing event.”
The conference will also
include two exciting breakout
sessions for men and women
with local speakers Bill Spect,
ministry leader of Celebrate
Recovery, and Cynthia Quinn,
specialist in women’s mental
and spiritual health.
