“Shagg” Pritchard for 58 years.
They moved to Florence in 1981
to be close
to
their
grandchil-
dren.
She was a
faithful
member of
the Florence
Christian
Church, and
Marieta
beloved by
Pritchard
all who had
the pleasure of knowing her. She
made regular visits to shut-ins
until she could no longer do so.
She enjoyed studying her Bible,
reading, sewing and gardening.
She was a resourceful home-
maker, knew how to make a dol-
lar stretch to its limits, and was a
wonderful wife and mother.
She was trained as a Licensed
Practical Nurse and was an
active Senior Girl Scout leader.
She enjoyed hiking, backpack-
ing and camping along the
Skyline Trail and other loca-
tions.
In later years, she hiked and
picnicked with the Wonder
Seekers. Now she is hiking the
trails of heaven and marveling at
the wonders there with her fam-
ily and friends, including her
three brothers: Doyle, Myrle and
Peary Hoyt, Jr., and their wives.
Someday she will lovingly
greet those she left behind,
including her son, Michael
Pritchard of Laramie, Wyo.; her
daughter, Sherrie, and son-in-
law Roger McCorkle, of
Florence; grandson Daniel
McCorkle and his wife, Lorri;
and their children: Faith and
Isaiah of Hillsboro, Ore.; grand-
daughter Pamela and her hus-

ALLEN—Audrey
Faye
Dotson Allen passed away in
Ocala, Fla.,
on April 8,
2016.
Faye was
born in Ira,
Va., on Feb.
2, 1933, and
lived
in
Florence
from 1951 Audrey Allen
through the
early 1980s. Faye and her hus-
band, John, were a part of the
migration of several families
that moved to the Florence area
in the early 1950s searching out
a new life in the Pacific
Northwest free of the poverty
and coal dust in the Appalachian
Mountains.
Faye was a long-time mem-
ber of the Florence Christian
Church as well as a primary
school teacher aide at the ele-
mentary school that was located
at that time where the Florence
Events Center’s north parking
lot is today.
She also ran her own pre-
school in her home for several
years.
IMPOUNDMENT
On Election Day, Tuesday,
May 17, the Lane County
Elections Office will be open
from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Faye was an avid reader with
a large collection of books in her
home in Florence that she care-
fully moved with her across the
country. In Florida, Faye
became a Master Gardener,
which she truly enjoyed.
Faye was preceded in death
by her husband of more than 50
years, John Clark Allen; her sis-
ter, Trudy Dotson; another sister,
Bonnie Lowman; and her
beloved sister-in-law, Alice
Baldwin Allen.
Survivors include her chil-
dren: Sharon Allen-Brick,
Rebecca Fender and John Allen
Jr.; a brother and four sisters;
four grandchildren: David,
Aislynn, Abigael and Kellen;
three great-grandchildren and
numerous nieces and nephews.

Throughout her life, Nikki
worked in a mill, as a café owner
and as a caregiver. She enjoyed
gardening and camping.
She is survived by her hus-
band Gordon, of Springfield; her
daughter, Christi (Brandon)
Hedlind, of Junction City; her
daughter, Tracy Unser (Daniel
Gerg), of Cottage Grove; her sis-
ter, Laurie Beaulieu, of
Springfield; her sister, Shannon
Cannon, of Florence; her broth-
er, Leonard Whelchel, of
Aumsville; two grandchildren
and one great-grandchild.
A funeral will be held Friday,
May 6, at 1 p.m., at Sunset Hills
Chapel in Eugene. Burial will be
in Sunset Hills Cemetery.

Pritchard, 94, of Florence,
returned to the loving arms of
her Lord and Savior on March
28, 2016, in the comfort of her
own home.
She was born Sept. 7, 1921, to
Peary and Nola Hoyt, in
Newton, Iowa, where she grew
up and graduated from high
school.
She was married to L.A.
