Siuslaw School District
Superintendent Ethel Angal
is
conducting
informa-
tion sharing and listening
meetings at various loca-
tions in the coming months
regarding
the
district
asking voters to consider
a bond measure to construct
a new high school.
Angal will offer informa-
tion on the condition of
the current building and
why the district has proposed
building new versus re-
modeling, as well as listen
to questions or concerns
of community members.

nent of a $36.9 million bond measure to be voted on in the May 17 election. Florence City Council voted unan-
imously to support the measure during its April 4 meeting. Preliminary concept design renderings may be viewed at

Recreation Department will host “Art in the Park” on
Saturday, April 30, from 10:00-3:00pm. h e event begins
with a dedication ceremony for the “Eye of the Needle”
sculpture at the entrance to the day use area. At er
the dedication, the public is invited to the Bathhouse
Heritage Center at Cleawox for a variety of art projects
and display, including i sh prints, weaving, luminaries,
poetry and more. Children are invited to get their
pictures taken with J.B. Beaver. Light refreshments will
be served. h ere is no charge for the event.

Red Cross seeks volunteers
to install smoke alarms
The American Red Cross
Home Fire Preparedness
Campaign will be installing
free smoke alarms in Coast
Village in Florence on
Saturday, April 23.
Volunteers
are
being
recruited to help with this
effort.
Interested
individuals
should report to the Coast
Village club house, 131
Rhody Loop, at 9 a.m.
Saturday for training.
No special skills are
required.
Installations will begin
after the training and contin-
ue through 4 p.m.
