13th-place finish in 4:11.86.
Precht went on to leap 16 feet,
2.5 inches in the long jump for
12th place.

Thrall went on to work his way
out of a jam in the top of the sev-
enth with the bases loaded, strik-
ing out two batters and throwing
another pop up to preserve an 8-0
shutout.
Senior Michael Mason did his
job well behind the plate, both as
catcher and batter, smacking a 3-
run homer in the top of the first
inning. Meanwhile, Thrall got
aboard four times and hit back-to-
back doubles, with sophomore
Darren Stinnett and freshman
Gabe Simington scoring 2 runs
each in the win.
In the nightcap, Trojans sopho-
more Jace Johnson threw a four-
hit shutout to lead Douglas to a 6-
0 win.
Friday, the Vikings will host
South Umpqua (4-1) for a dou-
bleheader beginning at 3 p.m.

“I was pumped,” said
Dejesus, who finished fourth in
freestyle and fifth in Roman-
Greco at 120 pounds.
“He was also kind of nerv-
ous,” said Tatum, causing
chuckles from the group.
Dejesus smiled. “Yeah, that
too.”
Tatum, who wrestled at 105
pounds, placed sixth in both the
freestyle and Roman-Greco
divisions.
Robertson, wrestling at 65
pounds, was fourth in the
freestyle division after defeat-
ing a wrestler he had lost to ear-
lier in the season.
“That was probably my
favorite part of the tourna-
ment,” said Robertson.
Mason Buss, who wrestled
at 95 pounds, had the team’s
highest placement after taking
third in both freestyle and
Roman-Greco competition.
Like Robertson, Buss man-
aged to defeat one wrestler who
he had lost to earlier in the sea-
son.
“This time, I kind of demol-
ished him,” said Buss, whose
remark causes another round of
chuckling.
“It’s a special group for
sure,” said Stecher Buss, who
will be taking the group
through its paces in the weeks
ahead. “Summer wrestling
makes spring champions.”
Given the number of medals
hanging around the necks of
this group, it’s a prospect that
will likely hold true for many
springs to come.
“I’m excited,” said LaCosse,
who will be an eighth-grader
next season. “I learned a lot this
year and can’t wait to see what
I can do.”

put 46 feet, 6.75 inches for 14th,
and fellow sophomore Josh
Payne placed fourth in the 100-
meter wheelchair race in 21.59.
Siuslaw finished 34th overall
in team scoring out of 62
schools.
