Florence Events Center and is free to

R UMMAGE SALE TO BENEFIT KIDS
A pulled-pork dinner and live/silent
auction will be held at the Florence
Elks Lodge as a fundraiser for the
Siuslaw Regional Aquatics Center, the
Mapleton pool.
Doors open at 5 p.m. with dinner
served between 5:30 and 7 p.m. The
Elks’ no-host bar will be open. Only a
handful of tickets, $15 each, will be
available at the door, 1686 12th St.

Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA) at
Siuslaw High School at PFLAG’s
monthly meeting at Lane Community
College, 3149 Oak St., in Florence, at
6:30 p.m., in room 130. The public is
invited and refreshments will be

The GSA, formed at the High School
in 2012, consists of students who iden-
tify with issues related to the LGBT
(lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, transgender)
spectrum, forming an alliance to assure
full inclusion and prevent bullying.

Cancer Education/Support Group will
meet at the Presbyterian Church of the
Siuslaw from 5 to 7 p.m. With the
presence of urologist Dr. Bryan
Mehlhaff, prostate cancer survivors and
their spouses or loved ones, the Us
TOO Florence meeting is an excellent
source of prostate cancer information.

B ONES TO SPEAK AT G ARDEN C LUB
Florence Garden Club will host
guest speaker Mike Bones, whose
passion for gardening is evident as
the premier supplier of rhododendrons
for the local area. Bones will share
some tips on pruning, as well as his
enthusiastic plant auction, which is one
of the club’s favorite fundraisers for
its scholarship fund.
The meeting will begin at 1 p.m. at
the Presbyterian Church of the Siuslaw,
3996 Highway 101.

OPB SHRED DAY , CAR WASH
Oregon Pacific Bank will be holding
its ninth annual Shred Day and car
wash from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., or until
the truck is full.
Confidential paper materials will be
shredded onsite in the Florence Branch
parking lot, 1355 Highway 101.
The event is free and open to every-
one in the Florence community.
Businesses may bring confidential
materials for shredding during the last
hour of the event.
The event is staffed by OPB employ-
ee volunteers and friends. For more
