OBITUARY
OSBON— Nancy (Nan)
Jean Osbon, 82, passed away
March
6,
2016.
Nan was
born May 12,
1933,
in
T h r a l l ,
Texas,
to
Benjamin
and Margaret
Nan Osbon Fuchs.
She and
her sister were raised in the
Watts area of Los Angeles,
Calif.
Nan was baptized and con-
firmed into the Lutheran faith
and enjoyed singing as a child.
Her first job in high school was
working at the Leimert Theater
in Los Angeles as an usher.
Nan married Irwin Osbon
(Ozzie) May 8, 1953, at Mount
Calvary Lutheran in Los
Angeles.
Nan opened her own real
estate office, Plaza Realty, in
Palos Verdes Peninsula, Calif.,
and became the first female bro-
ker on the Board of Realtors in
1956. After that, she was also a
stockbroker and an insurance
agent.
Nan and Ozzie worked
together designing and building
10 homes in the Palos Verdes
Peninsula area, as well as her
home in Florence.
They did a lot of RV travel-
ing, approximately three to six
months each year, visiting every
state. Together, they traveled to
Spain, South America, Mexico
and Puerto Rico as well as sev-
eral cruises, including the last
voyage of the Lurline from
Hawaii to the U.S. mainland.
Nan and Ozzie moved to
Florence in December of 1999.
They were among the group
who decided Florence needed a
LCMS church and set about to
make Resurrection Lutheran
their church.
Nan was involved in numer-
ous
causes,
including
Resurrection Lutheran Church,
Lutheran Woman’s Missionary
League, the Florence Events
Center’s Friends of the FEC,
Council Advisory Committee,
SEAcoast
Entertainment,
Siuslaw
Fisherman’s
Association, Rhododendron
Society, Caring Pregnancy
Center, Florence Parks and
Recreation, Florence Mural
Advisory Board, City Club
Steering Committee, Kiwanis,
Oregon Coast Military Museum
and Toastmasters International.
Nan was also a former
Florence City Councilor in
2003 and 2004, and councilor
vice-president in 2005 and
2006.
She enjoyed watching foot-
ball, going on beach walks and
listening to Christian or classi-
cal music. She sought the
Lord’s guidance daily through-
out her life and shared her
blessings with others. Nan lived
quietly with her cat, Cloi.
She was preceded in death by
her husband, Ozzie, in 2005,
and leaves behind a stepson,
Ron Osbon, of Fullerton, Calif.;
a sister, Joan Amorelli, of San
Pedro, Calif.; a niece, Terry
Smith, of Manhattan Beach,
Calif.; and a great niece, Timmi
Jandro, of Palos Verdes Estates,
Calif.
A Celebration of Life service
will be held at Resurrection
Lutheran Church, 1 mile south
of the Siuslaw River Bridge on
Highway 101, on Thursday,
April 21, at 3 p.m., followed by
a reception at the Florence
Events Center, 715 Quince St.,
from 4 to 6 p.m., to share stories
and memories.
A donation box will be avail-
able at the FEC for Nan’s
favorite charities: Resurrection
