Class Act Theater hosts return of ‘Spelling Bee’
The cast of “25th Annual
Putnam County Spelling Bee”
is returning to Florence
to hold two special concert
version performances to
open Class Act Theater
(CAT), at the corner of
Rhododendron Drive and
Kingwood Street.
The performances will be
Friday, March 25, and
Saturday, March 26, at 7 p.m.
Tickets will be $20 and are
available by calling 541-997-
4815 during business hours.
David Lauria, owner of
Class Act Theater, returns to
direct “Spelling Bee” and
steps into the role of Don
Panch on stage.
The rest of the cast
includes reprises of charac-
ters by the original actors.
The spelling bee contest-
ants are Jason Wood as
William Barfee, Matt Korso
as Leaf Coneybear, Jesse
Reeves as Chip Tolentino,
Elizabeth Rose as Logainne
Schwartzandgrunenierre, Erin
Reinke as Marcy Park and
Tamara Cole as Olive
Ostrovsky.
Besides Lauria, the grown-
up characters include Hilary
Roach
as
Rona
Lisa
Peretti and Jacob Ternyik as

Each character has unique
quirks and gifts. All of the
characters’ personalities run
deep and have stories that
everyone can relate to: loneli-
ness, puberty, sibling rivalry,
imagination and more.
Solos, duets and all-cast
numbers will fill the 75-seat
theater at CAT with the
sounds of one character’s
“favorite moments of the
bee.”
“25th Annual Putnam
County Spelling Bee’s” pro-
duction team includes Lauria,
Wood, who is the musical
director, Rosemary Lauria,
Dave Hansen and Paula
Burnette.
This show is full of fun,
Grange offering Harley
Huff Memorial Scholarship
Ada Grange No. 570 is
offering scholarship applica-
tions for a Harley Huff Sr.
Memorial Scholarship in the
amount of $400.
The scholarship is open to
anyone, regardless of age,
residing in the Florence or
Mapleton area, who wishes to
continue education in any uni-
versity, community college,
vocational or trade school.

stand-up comedians from
around the Northwest per-
forming each Thursday in
Blue Bills Sports Bar and Tap
Room (located inside Three
Rivers) from 7 to 8 p.m.
On March 24, the headliner
performer will be Benjie
Wright, with opener Scoot
Herring.
Wright is a former radio
personality and Alabama
native who has endeared him-
self to a wide range of audi-
ences. With a contagious
laugh and friendly, almost
intoxicating
demeanor,
Wright’s admissions of dys-
function connects to people of
all walks of life.
He jumped on to the come-
dy stage in 2006 at the
Stardome Comedy Club in
Birmingham, Ala., at an open
mic night. His unique outlook
and quick wit was instantly
popular, launching him into a
career in comedy.
