An elector may file a petition for review of the ballot title
in the Lane County Circuit Court no later than 5:00 p.m.,
March 23, 2016.
NOTICE OF DISTRICT MEASURE ELECTION
Notice is hereby given on March 14, 2016, that a measure
election will be held in the Mapleton School District No. 32
located in Lane County, Oregon, on May 17, 2016. The follow-
ing shall be the ballot title of the measure to be submitted to
the district’s voters:
Caption: School District bond to improve facilities,
safety and security
Question: Shall Mapleton School District issue
$4,000,000 in bonds and receive a 100% state match for
$4,000,000? If the bonds are approved, they will be payable
from taxes on property or property ownership that are not
subject to the limits of sections 11 and 11b, Article XI of the
Oregon Constitution.
Summary: $4,000,000 in State funds have been awarded
to the District if voters approve this measure. If voters reject
this measure, State funds will be diverted to another district.
If approved, this measure would finance capital costs to
improve school facilities, support student learning, and ad-
dress safety and security, expected to include:
• Upgrade accessibility, roofing, mechanical, electrical,
plumbing and septic systems, and exterior of buildings at
Mapleton Elementary (MES) and Mapleton High School
(MHS).
• Renovate MES and MHS, including exterior areas.
• Add emergency exits and increase security at MES and
MHS.
• Acquire technology to support classroom instruction
and infrastructure.
• Resurface track.
• Purchase school buses.
• Site improvements, furnishing and equipping of proj-
ects, demolition and bond issuance costs.
Bonds would mature in a period not to exceed 25 years.
The estimated tax rate is approximately $1.59 per $1,000 of
assessed property value.
