The city hopes
to get at least 200
volunteers to help
with the event. The
city has again
made an offer to

will sound on Friday at 11 a.m.

sirens, there will be an evacua-
tion simulation from City Hall
to the blue line recently placed
on Rhododendron Drive at

The walk will be approxi-
mately four blocks.

There will be a costume
contest with a prize provided
by TR Hunter.
The first 50 tickets are
sponsored by TR Hunter and
will be free.
This event is a fundraiser
for the Oregon Coast
Military Museum.

for its current plans to improve

of what you do,” Meyer said.
He
recommended
an
enhanced curfew after 9 p.m.,
especially for minors, citing
residents’ concerns about late-
night activity in the neighbor-
hood.
Mayor Joe Henry said, “The
Florence Police Department is
aware of the issues in Old
Town and has increased patrols
down there. We will certainly
get the police department’s rec-
ommendation on this.”
Henry added that public
safety is one of the city’s main
goals in its work plan.
“We just want to get the ball
rolling and help the police get
additional tools to accomplish
safety,” Meyer said. “Old Town
is the jewel of the community.
We really like it. We’re just
doing our best to keep it that
way.”

and tsunami in Japan that

It is also the day Reynolds
signed her contract to work for
the City of Florence as finance
manager.
“I’m very happy to be here,
tsunamis and all,” she said.
During the meeting, the
Florence City Council also
voted to approve Western
Lane Emergency Operation
Group’s (WLEOG) Emer-
gency Operations Plan to
coordinate,
manage
and
respond to emergencies and
disasters in the community.
