Edson, Ignatieff featured artists in March

Backstreet
Gallery, 1421 Bay St., will feature
artwork by Garry Edson and Claudia
Ignatieff throughout March.
Edson’s collection of one-of-a-kind
glass etchings includes both decora-
tive and utilitarian pieces.
The etchings are hand masked and
razor cut, then sand blasted with
beach sand.
Moving to Florence more than a
year ago from Alaska, Edson says he
uses his artwork to express the “love
and respect of the ocean in my art by
sharing my view of what has brought
me joy.”
Ignatieff uses aqua oils to create
her paintings, with animals being her
favorite subject.
“I want to connect with those who
view my art by portraying the uncon-
ditional love of pets and the beauty of
wildlife on the Oregon Coast,” says
Ignatieff.
The artists will be honored at a
reception during the Second Saturday
Gary Edson and Claudia Ignatieff
will be the featured artists for
March at Backstreet Gallery.
Art Walk on March 12, from 3 to 5
p.m.
The public is invited to attend, meet
the artists and enjoy music, appetizers
and the entire gallery.
Music will be provided by Carol
Ridley, a woman with a lifetime of
music in her fingers.
Skilled with several instruments,
starting with the piano, Ridley will
play Chopin for the guests, with a few
good Irish ballads played on her flute
for St. Patrick.
Ridley lives in Elkton, Ore., with
her husband and dogs after having
raised five children while working in
the schools as a music educator.
Artwork of the featured artists, as
well as all Backstreet Gallery artists,
can be viewed daily from 10 a.m. to 5
p.m. at the gallery.
