Siuslaw Pioneer Museum Confederated Tribes celebrate five years of ‘giving’
Feb. 18 marked the fifth

annual gifting luncheon of the
The
Siuslaw
Pioner
Museum recently honored its
45 volunteers at a luncheon at
the Florence Elks Lodge. The
theme for the celebration was
“A Night at the Oscars,” with
volunteers walking on a red
carpet to receive awards from
board president Del Phelps for
their various volunteer special-
ties.
A moment of silence was
held in memory of Bob
Jackson, who recently died.
Jackson was described by vol-
unteer Judy Fleagle as a
“reluctant, rough-edged ren-
aissance man who will be
sorely missed.”
After the awards ceremony,
time was spent reminiscing
about, and catching up on,
museum activities.
As with all nonprofits, the
museum could not function
without its volunteers. Anyone
who loves local history and
has some free time is always
welcome to join the museum’s
staff of volunteers.
