This disease is a contagious viral infection that typically begins with fever and later presents as sores in the mouth. Bev was born March 1, 1950, in St. Louis, Mo., to Goldia and James Underwood. She gradu- ated high school at Benton High and went on to the University of Arkansas, Little Rock (“Soooooepig!” as Bev used to say). In 1970, Bev met Paul Holman when he was stationed at the Little Rock Air Force Base. They married June 2, 1973, and she joined him at Hamilton AFB in Ignacio, Calif., just outside of San
