Roby’s transforms Siuslaw High School teachers’ lounge
Local furniture store commits community service day to support teachers, staff
School principal Kerri Tatum said the
teaching staff could not wait to express
their appreciation and to begin enjoying
the new break room.
“I love this community,” she said.
“Time and time again they have
shown support. We are so blessed to work
here.”
District Superintendent Ethel Angal
said, “I got to see it for the first time today
and was blown away at the care that the
Roby’s volunteers took in the planning
and decorating of the space. What a won-
derful gift.”
Last year, Roby’s staff painted and
landscaped the Siuslaw Outreach Services
property.

Rumors were flying as Roby’s
Furniture and Appliance employ-
ees began a complete makeover of
the Siuslaw High School teachers’
lounge Thursday, Jan. 28. Only a
handful of administrators were
aware of what was happening.
Five Roby’s employees arrived
at the school at 10 a.m. By 4 p.m.
the job was completed. New paint
donated by Ron’s Paint and new
furnishings from Roby’s complete-
ly transformed the space.
Each year, the five Roby’s
Furniture stores choose a commu-
nity service project for each of the
five coastal communities in which
the stores are located and close for
the day to carry out the project.
Dustin Herring, manager of the
Florence Roby’s Furniture and
Appliance store, said, “This year
we thought remodeling the teach-
ers’ lounge would be a great proj-
ect. We wanted to create a restful
atmosphere for the staff of Siuslaw
High School.”
