Hanna Anderson — Creative Writing
PRIDE IN THE ARTS
B Y B ENJAMIN C AHOON
Siuslaw High School Student
_____________________________
H
anna Anderson, a junior at Siuslaw High School,
has been our Artist of the Month once before for
forensic arts. This month, however, she will be
recognized for her creative writing.
Hanna has English with Mr. Neil Wartnik during second
period.
Hanna explains, “I like how we actually discuss things
instead of just being told. We’ve talked about some pretty
serious topics and the discussions are very interesting.”
Hanna is the daughter of Dirk and Kathy Anderson, and
her favorite project in class was a persuasive essay in
which she discussed immigration.
Hanna says that, “similar to how an object tends to stay
in motion, a student that is talking is probably going to
continue talking.”
Besides writing, she enjoys drawing, playing video
games and “wasting time on the Internet.”
After high school, Hanna explains that she will “get into
a car, drive as fast as (she) can in the opposite direction of
the school, screaming, ‘Master has given Hanna a diplo-
ma! Hanna is free!’” — a reference to “Harry Potter” char-
acter Dobby.
For long-range goals, as always, Hanna has a wonder-
fully hilarious itinerary.
She explains how she will “marry rich, work at Sephora
(for the discount) and grow up to be that grandma that
makes really inappropriate jokes but everyone lets her get
away with it because, ‘Oh, that’s just grandma.’”
Hanna is currently working on “a couple of novels.”
One thing is for certain, Hanna’s vivid and entertaining

THE WORLD ’ S A STAGE
Siuslaw Jr. Thespians participate in state-wide theater event
S
iuslaw Middle School participated
along with other middle schools from the
Portland and Salem areas in the first
Oregon Jr. Thespians Day.
Eighty middle school students joined together
for theater workshops and games themed “Pirates
and Fairy Tales.”
Siuslaw Jr. Thespians Troupe No. 89236 joined
with other Jr. Thespians and, in groups that mixed
schools, wrote a scene combining pirates and
popular fairy tales.
At the end of the day, each group performed
for the whole conference.
This is the first such gathering as Oregon
Thespians, the Oregon Chapter of the
International Thespians Society, which seeks to
offer more events for Jr. Thespians. —Submitted
