You, Me and the Apocalypse
Thursday at 8 p.m. on KGW,
KOBI, KMTR
If “The Last Man on Earth” suggests
what happens after doomsday,
this seriocomic new show depicts
what might happen just before that.
Though the series is British-made,
Rob Lowe, Jenna Fischer (“The
Office”) and Megan Mullally play
several of the people whose lives are
examined before a comet is expect-
ed to strike Earth. In the premiere,
“Who Are These People?,” some
make their way to a bunker that lets
them survive and become the basis
of a new society.
The People v. O.J. Simpson:
American Crime Story
Tuesday at 10 p.m. on FX
Jeffrey Toobin’s book about the for-
mer football star’s trial is the source
of this new, limited-run series from
executive producer Ryan Murphy
(“American Horror Story”) that
brings John Travolta back to televi-
sion as Robert Shapiro, one of the
defense attorneys for murder suspect
Simpson (played by Cuba Gooding
Jr.). Courtney B. Vance also stars as
lawyer Johnnie Cochran, with Sarah
Paulson, David Schwimmer, Nathan
Lane and Bruce Greenwood among
additional cast members.
Madoff
Wednesday at 8 p.m. on KATU,
KEZI
A name synonymous with investment
fraud becomes the title of this new
miniseries, concluding the next night.
Oscar winner Richard Dreyfuss stars
as Bernie Madoff in the drama,
which is a collaboration between
ABC's entertainment division and
its news department, via the latter's
Lincoln Square Productions. To that
end, a book about Madoff by ABC
investigative reporter Brian Ross was
a prime source for the teleplay here.
Blythe Danner and Charles Grodin
also appear.
