vived by her daughter, Lucy

and Denzel Schweier; many
grandchildren and great-grand-
children; and by her, brother

Connie was a lifelong dedi-
cated member of the Jehovah
Witnesses Organization.
Her interests were family,
collecting
jewelry
and
seashells. While in Los Alamos,
N.M., she owned a unique
restaurant and antique store; in
Kailua, Hawaii, she and
Richard owned an auto detail
business; and in Florence, they
owned and operated Schweier’s
Landing Adult Foster Care
Home.
Connie enjoyed being a wife
and mother. She had many
friends and she will be remem-
bered fondly.
A memorial service will be
announced at a later date.
SPEER—Lora M. Speer, 76,
of Florence, passed away Jan. 8,
2016, from pulmonary fibrosis.
Lora was born June 1, 1939,
in Lancaster, Ohio, to Charles
and
Samantha
“Peggy”
Bauman.
She lived in Columbus, Ohio,
into her teens, then moved with
her parents to Eugene, Ore.,
then to Florence, and lived here
for 59 years.
She married Manuel Speer in
Florence on April 11, 1957.
Lora worked many years for
the Siuslaw School District as
the custodian at the high school,
until her retirement.

Dunes City is seeking can-
didates to fill an unexpired
term on the Dunes City
Council.
The appointee’s term of
office shall begin immediate-
ly upon appointment and
shall continue until the end of
the year following the next
general biennial election,
Dec. 31, 2016.
The term expires upon
swearing in of new coun-
cilors during the first council
meeting in January 2017.

She was
born April 4,
Connie

Wampler
Minnesota, to
George and
Lucille Schwengel.
She had three brothers: Bill,
Jerry and Lloyd Schwengel.
Connie lived in California,
Hawaii, New Mexico and
Oregon.
On May 9, 1960, she married
Richard Schweier, who preced-
ed her in death in 1994.
In 1995, she was blessed to
