City Lights celebrates
Bowie with ‘Labyrinth’
On Saturday, Jan. 16, at
noon and 9 p.m., City Lights
Cinemas will have a rare
treat: Jim Henson's cult clas-
sic, “Labyrinth,” starring
David Bowie on the big
screen.
Mister Ooh-la-la, theatre
manager, who has always
ranked David Bowie among
his “trinity” of creative influ-
ences, suggests that Henson
and Bowie were both creative
geniuses “that have left us too
soon.”
“Labyrinth” was released

ago, and was hailed at the
time as breakthrough.
Michael Wilmington of the
Chicago Tribune wrote that it
was, “A real masterpiece of
puppetry and special effects,
an absolutely gorgeous chil-
dren’s fantasy movie.”
Tickets are available in
advance or at the door: Cost is
$6.50 for City Lights mem-
bers, $7 children ages 12 and
under, $7.50 for matinees, $8
for students/seniors/military,
and $9 for regular admission.

Crow and the Canyon —

This year sees the return of
the two-day Artisan Fair with
nearly three dozen exhibitors,
as well as the pie sale on
Saturday.
Doors open at 10 a.m. each
day. The annual no-host public
jam sessions at Pier Point Inn
return this year too, Friday, Jan.
