County clears landslide
on North Fork Siuslaw
Lane County announced the
reopening of North Fork
Siuslaw Road this week after a
landslide on Dec. 18.
The landslide debris at mile-
post 15.8 has been cleared
from North Fork Siuslaw Road
and the road is now open to
traffic.
Wet weather conditions and
the potential for additional
landslides at that location kept
Lane County Public Works
crews from clearing the land-
slide in December. As condi-
tions improved, crews were
able to safely remove debris
and repair road damage.

Dunes City
hearing on
septic proposal
postponed
The Dunes City Council’s
scheduled hearing on pro-
posed Ordinance Number
228, proposing amendments
to the current Code regarding
septic maintenance, has been
postponed until the March
regular meeting of the City
Council.
“Councilor Ken Platt will
be unavailable to attend the
Council meeting on Jan. 14,”
said Acting City Admin-
istrator, Jamie Mills. “The
other City Councilors have
expressed concern that
because this issue is so
important, all Councilors
should be here to partici-
pate.”
For that reason, Mayor
Rebecca Ruede decided to
remove the planned hearing
from January’s agenda and
place in on the March 10,
2016 agenda.
Both the current septic
maintenance Code, Ord-
inance No. 203, and the pro-
posed Ordinance No. 228,
can be viewed online by vis-
iting the Dunes City website
at
www.dunescity.com/
ordinances.
Councilor Lyddon invites
all members of the public
who have not yet ridden
the Rhody Express and may
be interested to come aboard
and experience the service
as well as have the opp-
ortunity to share your
thoughts.
All members of the public
are welcome and fares will be
free during this event.
