COOS BAY — Plum Creek
Foundation is contributing a $2,500
grant to support the Coos Art
Museum’s 2016 Biennial Student
Art Exhibit.
Nearly 1,000 pieces of art created
by pre-K through 12th grade stu-
dents will be on display from Feb.
26 through April 9, 2016.
Working with teachers, students
and families within Coos, Curry and
western Douglas counties, the Coos
Art Museum presents the popular
exhibit annually to support arts edu-
cation in the South Coast Education
Services District.
“The main goal of our exhibition
is to encourage young artists and
recognize their artistic expression,”
says Steven Broocks, the museum’s
executive director. “This exhibit
showcases the creative talents of
young artists in our community and
encourages residents to seek out cul-
tural resources and opportunities for
their families.”

cian to enjoy “Musical Instruments @
CAM,” a multimedia exhibition at Coos
Art Museum that lasts through Feb. 13,
2016.
The unique exhibit presents the work of
11 Oregon musical instrument makers. In
the Atrium Gallery, curator Gail Elber has
brought together harps, guitars, ukuleles,
mandolins, pan flutes, violins, Norwegian
hardanger fiddles, Irish whistles and
Native American flutes and drums by
makers from Pistol River to Portland.
