Newspaper Page TextUnique etchings now on display at Backstreet FLORENCE — Backstreet Gallery, 1421 Bay St., recently wel- comed its newest artist member, Garry Edson, who etches marvelous patterns on his three dimensional glass art works. Edson’s collection of one-of-a-kind glass etchings includes both decorative and utilitari- an pieces. The etchings are hand-masked and razor cut, then sand blasted with beach sand. After living in Alaska for a number of years, Garry and his wife, Kristina, moved to Florence a little over a year ago to be closer to family and friends. For 18 years they partici- pated in the southeast Alaska winter dive fisheries. “Now that we live in Florence, we want to express our love and respect for the ocean in our art by sharing our views of what has brought us joy,” said Edson.
