Over the years, the club, which is not affiliated with the City of Florence, has held meetings twice a month fea- turing speakers presenting information of importance and interest to the communi- ty. Over the past year, atten- dees have heard presentations from representatives of the Florence Police Department, Siuslaw Out- reach Services, Peace Harbor Hospice, U.S. Coast Guard and a number of other organizations and indi- viduals. The Steering Committee of City Club has observed over past couple of years a gradual decline in atten- dance at the meetings. As a result, in addition to the committee’s internal discus- sions on the topic, it was felt that a larger meeting to include all interested peo- ple to solicit ideas to reverse this trend would be benefi- cial. It is the intent that all fac- tors affecting attendance, including speaker topics, frequency of meetings, meet- ing time and duration, Twin Lakes Store has a magical Christmas tree gracing the front door. The tree is filled with ornaments sprinkled with holiday wishes from local teen- agers. Now is the time for the “community elves” to stop in and see what local youth need or want for Christmas. Presents can be dropped off wrapped or unwrapped any day during business hours. For more information, to help with fundraising or to nominate a teen, call Twin Lakes Store at 541-997-3021.
