Florence police arrest
woman for burglary

Police
Department (FPD) arrested

in connec-
tion to a
burglary on
Nov. 4.

Pitcher, officers responded to
a reported burglary in
progress on Pine Court,
where the victim reported she
came home and interrupted a
burglary.
The suspect then ran from
the area.
Officers developed a pos-
sible suspect based upon the
victim’s description and
other evidence obtained.
Later that evening, police
located and arrested Meltzer
on a “fail to appear” warrant
for burglary, theft and crimi-
nal mischief.
Meltzer’s arrest led offi-
cers to the discovery
of stolen property and
additional evidence to charge
her with additional counts of
burglary and theft from the
burglary reported earlier
on Pine Court, and an addi-
tional charge of unlawful
possession of a controlled
substance.
Meltzer was transported to
Lane
County
Adult
Corrections on all of the
above charges.
The FPD is continuing
its investigation into addi-
tional charges of unlaw-
ful entry into a motor
vehicle, theft and criminal
trespass against Meltzer
from a separate reported inci-
dent in the area of the burgla-
ry.

HOBERG—Wanda Marie
Hoberg, 84, passed away Oct.
26, 2015, with
her family at
her side.
She
was
born March
18, 1931, in
St.
Helens,
Ore.,
the
daughter of Irl
a
n
d
Guenavear
Ziemer.
W a n d a
moved
to
Florence with
Wanda
her family at
Hoberg
the age of 8
and graduated from Siuslaw
High School in 1949. She
married Gary Hoberg in May
of 1956.
Gary and Wanda worked
together running Hoberg’s
Chevron for many years and
grew to be known and loved in
the community. She was
active in Soroptomist of
Florence. She was also award-
ed a lifetime membership to
the Siuslaw Alumni Assoc-
iation to thank her for being an
original founder and for her
deep dedication to the Siuslaw
High School and her fellow
graduates.
Wanda loved her family and
enjoyed watching it grow just
as much as she loved watching
her garden grow. She and
Gary both loved to travel and,
after the kids were grown and
gone, they would load up the
RV and head out to enjoy the
open road and visit their
favorite places.
Wanda is preceded in death
by her brother Zane Ziemer.
She is survived by her hus-
band, Gary Hoberg, of
Florence; her son Rand, and
wife Beverly, Hoberg of
Eugene; daughter Shasta, and
her husband Kevin McMullen,
of Florence; son Jim Hoberg
of Florence; grandchildren
Anthony
and
Beige
McMullen, McKenzie and
Justin Kramer, Jordan and
Jammie
Hoberg,
Jenna
Hoberg, Jennifer Hoberg, and
Jessica Hoberg; along with her
great-grandchildren Allen and
Jade McMullen, Gesme,
Sahara and Samantha Kramer,
and Gavin Hoberg.
A memorial for Wanda will
be held Saturday, Nov. 14, at 1
