2 A SIUSLAW NEWS ❚ SATURDAY, OCTOBER 3, 2015 OBITUARIES This large family lived on a pastor’s small salary and faith. They never went without food, shelter or clothing, even if the hand-me-down shoes were occasionally resoled. Nancy grew into a beautiful young woman, excelling in many life skills, and fell in love with a soldier returning from the war in Europe. She married Henry Johnson, and from their home in Florence, Ore., gave him six children. If raising six kids wasn’t enough, Nancy became the bookkeeper for Hank’s busi- ness, for her brother-in-law’s business and for the church. She sewed clothes for her family, kept up with the “Three Cs” (cleaning, cooking and canning), and decorated the windows of their furniture store. As her eldest left for college, Nancy plunged into a new Police identify body found in Florence The Florence Police Department (FPD) ann- ounced that it has iden- tified the body dis- covered north of Florence in August. On Sept. Jonathon Iram 21, the FPD was able to Heredia identify the remains as that of Jonathan Iram Heredia, 31, of Eugene. Heredia had been reported as a missing person out of Eugene on July 16. Identification was made possible thanks to a helpful citizen who was reviewing newly entered records in the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NAMUS), and alerted law enforcement to a possible match. NAMUS is a system accessible to law enforce- ment, medical examiners and the public to aid in identifica- tion of missing persons, unidentified persons and unclaimed remains of known individuals. This death remains under investigation, but FPD previ- ously released it appears at this time to have been a sui- cide. Mushroom pickers found Heredia’s body in a wooded area north of Sandpines Golf Links and west of Fred Meyer on Aug. 30 Heredia is believed to have been in Florence around the beginning of August. Anyone who may have had contact with him is asked to contact FPD Detective Brandon Ott at 541-997-3515. More information regard- ing the NAMUS system can be found at www.namus.gov. With her sister, she bought an old church building and opened a full-service fabric store that was the pride of the Oregon coast. Nancy was truly a “Proverbs 31 woman” in every way. She lived to see the fruition of her greatest wish: that all her chil- dren would love God. Her chil- dren “rise up and call her blessed.” She is survived by her six children: Pat Sapp, Sandra Lane, Bart Johnson, Kathy Stone, Dennis Johnson and Randall Johnson; 15 grandchildren and 18 great- grandchildren; three siblings: Alaire Fagerstrom, Elizabeth Lundberg and Sallie Peterson. Corrections In the front-page article, “National POW/MIA Recog- nition Day,” in the Sept. 19 issue of the Siuslaw News, the Florence-area Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3232 participated in the service, not Post 3242 as stated. In Wesley Voth’s column, “Why the Survival of Our Community Food Co-op Matters,” Sept. 26, page A4, the last sentence was inadver- tently cut off. It should have read, “Real Food Co-op has been a bright light in the midst of all this; if you care about quality food and local food sustainability, please find a way to help it survive.” Siuslaw News regrets the errors. • An “I Know My Central Lincoln!” quiz and contest—customers who answer seven or more questions about Central Lincoln correctly will be entered in a drawing to win a free iPad mini!
