Westlake woman pleads not
guilty in murder-for-hire plot
Police claim Pamela Gygi hired
hitman to kill ex-husband
B Y C HANTELLE M EYER
Siuslaw News
Pamela Jean Gygi, of
Westlake, pleaded not guilty
last week in
the
Lane
County case
accusing her
of hiring a
hitman to
kill her ex-
husband.
A federal
Pamela Gygi
grand jury
indicted Gygi on Aug. 24,
charging her with using inter-
state commerce facilities in the
commission of murder for
hire. Gygi faces four federal
charges.
Gygi, 57, allegedly contact-
ed a parolee to kill her ex-hus-
band, who had a $100,000 life
insurance policy that named
Gygi as the sole beneficiary.
The parolee told the FBI
that Gygi promised him $600
in cash, her ex’s online busi-
ness, some property in
California and a 2005 Dodge
Stratus in exchange for his
services. He is a cooperating
witness in the case.
According to a court affi-
davit, the parolee instead
warned Gygi’s ex of the plot
against him. The ex contacted
the FBI on June 1.
On July 10, the FBI arrested
Gygi at Gateway Mall in
Springfield. She is currently
lodged in the Lane County Jail.

“These are great kids,” said
Bob DuBose. “You have to
figure that kids who would
enjoy a special place such as
we have at St. Andrew’s
would be fine people, but I
was even more impressed in
spending time with them this
morning. They asked such
intelligent questions, and were
really helpful and kind.”
Each child received a small
stipend for gathering and lay-
ing out work, and will return
this week to help finish plac-
ing stones in the labyrinth.
The DuBoses are hoping to
take the children and some of
their friends on a field trip to
the local Coast Guard station
soon.
