Book fair adds publisher’s panel, Jane Kirkpatrick
The Florence Festival of
Books (FFOB) has evolved
into more than a book fair for
authors
and
publishers.
Besides the book fair on
Saturday, Sept. 26, from 10
a.m. to 4 p.m., the festival
now has two events on Friday
at the FEC and both are open
to the public: a publisher’s
panel and keynote speaker
Jane Kirkpatrick.
Because so many visitors to
the book fair asked about how
to become published, the
FFOB has included a publish-
er’s panel from 3 to 4:30 p.m.,
Sept. 25, that will try to
answer that question. The
panelists include the follow-
ing:
• Ellen Traylor is a best-
selling author of 19 books.
Her company, Port Hole
Publishing, presently publish-
es nearly 30 authors. Traylor
Arts • Crafts • Fishing Derby • Live Music
Association,

and Papyrus Press

She will speak on the
snags of publishing —
how not to fall in the
hands of so-called tra-
ditional
publishers,
what type of editing do
you need, and how to
promote your book
through
a
press
release.

The FFOB will also host
New York Times bestselling
author Jane Kirkpatrick as its

Friday
evening. Kirkpatrick has 22
novels and five nonfiction
books to her credit.
Attend Friday, Sept. 25, at 7
p.m., to hear Kirkpatrick talk
about her life as a writer, her
upcoming book Memory
Weaver and one of her most
beloved books, Where Lilacs
Still Bloom.
Tickets for Kirkpatrick’s
presentation are $8 in advance
