Fishing for the various
warm water fish species is
fair to good during the
summer months. There are
numerous lakes in the
Florence area that can pro-
vide good opportunity and
have boat and bank access.

Cutthroat trout
The cutthroat trout fish-
ery is slow to fair. Fishing
during the early mornings
or in the larger tributaries
is the most productive.
River conditions are very
low and warm for this time
of year. Bait is not allowed
above the head of tide but
small spinners, spoons and
fly fishing can be very pro-
ductive.

tournament netted more than
$7,000 for Siuslaw Outreach
Services on Aug. 22.
“It was a beautiful day
with very moderate wind,
and the Sandpines course
was in great shape,” said
SOS executive
director
David Wiegan. “There was
some real excitement on the
fifth hole when Jeff Mitchell
came within about 12 inches
of a hole-in-one to win a new
Ford Focus from Johnston
Motors.”
Coincidentally, the win-
ning team with a low-gross
score of 61 was Mitchell’s
own “Marauders” team from
Crescent City, Calif., which
included Mitchell along with
Tom Owen, Rich Taylor and
Norm Wilder.
