District Board of Directors will
be meeting at 1:30 p.m. on
Wednesday, Aug. 19, in the
Bromley Room of the Siuslaw
Public Library, 1460 Ninth St.,
for a regular meeting.

Olympics today
Pack 777’s Cub Scout
Olympics will be held today,
Aug. 15, from 1 to 3 p.m., at
Miller Park. Bring the whole
family for a fun-filled event
with relay races, obstacle
courses and more.

SHS Class of 1975
reunites today
Siuslaw High School Class
of 1975’s 40th reunion will be
today, Aug. 15.
There will be a potluck
lunch at the boat ramp area
between the second and third
bridge at noon. Dinner will be
at 7:30 p.m. at Pier Point Inn. It
will be buffet style.

Port board holds
meeting Wednesday
The Port of Siuslaw Board of
Commissioners will hold its
regular meeting on Wednesday,
Aug. 19, at 7 p.m., at the port
office, at 100 Harbor St.
A supplemental budget will
be considered and a review of
the Special Districts Best
Practices Checklist for 2015
will reviewed at this meeting.

medical cannabis
Thursday
Rocky Neil, local massage
therapist, will be the third
speaker to address cannabis —
specifically for medicinal use
— at the next Florence Herb
Enthusiasts
meeting
on
Thursday, Aug. 20, at 11 a.m. at
New Life Lutheran Church,
2100 Spruce St.
Neil will provide history dat-
ing back to the 1996 passage of
Senate Bill 420, also known as
the Compassionate Act, and
how we have progressed from
there. Discussion will include
plant diseases, rust, fertilization
and nurturing for successful
production of health organic
plants.

Banana Slugs perform
free Yachats concert
The Banana Slugs are return-
ing for a free concert at the
Yachats
Commons,

Highway 101, on Friday, Aug.
21, from 5 to 7 p.m.
Thanks to the generosity of
local donors who care about
children’s exposure to quality
music and environmental
issues, this concert is entirely
free. All ages are welcome.
Any donations collected at
the door will be given to
Yachats Youth and Family
Activities Program, which is
sponsoring the event. Local
bluegrass band The Bad Weeds
will play after the Slugs.
