CONTROL AND REPLACEMENT OF BOATHOUSE
AT US COAST GUARD STATION
SIUSLAW RIVER, FLORENCE, OREGON
COMMENT PERIOD EXTENSION
The US Coast Guard (USCG) proposes to construct
two groins for erosion control and to rebuild the boat-
house, dock, and walkway at USCG Station Siuslaw in
Florence, Oregon. The waterfront and upland assets at
the station are at risk of failure in the long term from on-
going riverbed scour and erosion of the bluff face, and
the existing boathouse has deteriorated and is ap-
proaching the end of its design life. Failure of the facili-
ties would jeopardize USCG missions of search and
rescue, law enforcement, and marine and environmen-
tal protection.
Pursuant to the National Environmental Policy Act,
the USCG intends to prepare an Environmental As-
sessment that evaluates the potential effects on the en-
vironment of a range of replacement alternatives, as
well as a No Action Alternative.
Interested parties are invited to comment on the pro-
posed action. This comment period has been extended
to July 31, 2015. Comments should be submitted by
