PARK—George Edward Park, Sr., 76, loving husband, father and grandfather, p a s s e d away peace- fully with his family by his side July 24, 2015. G e o r g e George Park was born April 24, 1940, and was raised in Austin, Texas. He joined the U.S. Air Force, where he served for six years, then settled in northern California, working for Pacific Gas and Electric. He was president of Pacific Service Employees Association in 1979. After retirement, George and Carol moved to Florence, where he enjoyed ATVing, fishing and walking on the beach collecting rocks and shells. He was an avid golfer and played softball for many years. He also enjoyed classic cars, camping and read- ing. He will be fondly remem- bered for his infectious laugh and always putting others first. George suffered from demen- tia for the last 10 years of his life and was a resident of Bay Crest Village in Coos Bay, then later resided at Spruce Point in Florence. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew him and will be greatly missed by his family. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Carol; his children: Eddie Park of Washoe Valley, Nev.; Jimmi Park of Placerville, Ca.; Wendy Park Harnage of South Lake Tahoe, Ca.; Timothy Windh of Florence; Stan Windh of Cameron Park, Ca.; Carl Windh of Puyallup, Wash.; sev- eral grandchildren and great- grandchildren and several brothers and sisters. DALE—Patricia Lela Dale, 91, of Florence, passed away July 24, 2015, after a short ill- ness. She was born in Centralia, Wash., on July 19, 1924, to Patricia Dale L e l a Lawrence Bradley and Chester I. Bradley. She attended Reed College in Portland, Ore., and graduated from the University of Oregon Medical School, School of Nursing, as a registered nurse in WEDDING Hoskinson – Burgin Sara Hoskinson and Timothy Burgin, both of Eugene, were married July 18, 2015, at 2 p.m. at the Tillamook Forest Center in Tillamook, Ore., under the officiation of Michael Schulze. Maid/matron of honor was Zoe Rolly and the best man was Adam Bacon. Bridesmaids included Elizabeth Weiss and Andi Schulze; groomsmen were Mason Duwell and Nich Landrith; flower girl was Emmarain Charlotte Hoogendoorn and ring bearer was Henry Burgin. The bride is the daughter of Sandy Hoskinson of Wapato, Wash., and Sam Hoskinson and Leslie Bishop of Corvallis. The groom is the son of Bonnie and Edwin Burgin of Eugene. The couple will honeymoon 1946. She worked in the nursing field for 50 years, including night supervision at Multnomah County Hospital in Portland and as a private-duty nurse in the San Francisco Bay area. She was a 17-year resident of Florence, moving here from Concord, Calif. She is survived by her daugh- ter, Carol A. Chapman (Tom) of Pleasant Hill, Ore.; a brother, Lon Bradley (Connie) of Florence; a sister, Sandra Coalman (Richard) of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Dr. Niel W. Graven, in 1997; a daughter, Cindy L. Graven, in 2010; and her hus- band, John H. Dale, in 1996. At Pat’s request, no service will be planned. VAN DEVENDER—Duane Van Devender, 89, born to George and Eva Van De- vender, May 8, 1925, in Cable, Wis., passed away near family Nov. 30, Duane and 2014, in Eu- Rose Van gene, Ore. Devender Rose Van D e v e n d e r, 84, born Aug. 26, 1930, to Ralph and Edith Eves in Walton, Ore., passed away May 13, 2015, in Eugene, Ore., also near family. Duane moved with his family from Cable, Wis., working in local mills before finally retiring from International Paper com- pany. Rose grew up in the Walton and Noti area. After graduating from Elmira High School as a member of the honor roll, she worked odd jobs in the area. Rose attended a college in Vancouver, Wash., with a long- time friend, Joy Davis. Duane and Rose met in Veneta, Ore., area after Duane served on the U.S.S. Alkaid dur- ing World War II in the Pacific. They married in Noti on Aug. 26, 1950. They settled there and raised three children: Vicki (Don), Dennis (Daphane) and Nancy (Henry). They often enjoyed fishing and hunting. In retirement they enjoyed garage sales, flea mar- kets and were “snow birds,” staying in Quartzsite, Ariz., band Jim MacDougall, her sister Barbara Ferrell and grandson Adam MacDougall. Beverly Neet was born on June 18, 1929 in Portland, Ore., during The Great Depression. She moved to California in 1946 with her mother and sister and, after graduating from high school in Gilroy, Calif., she attended Uni- versity of California, Berkeley. After meeting Jim Mac- Dougall in San Francisco, Calif., in 1952, marrying, rais- ing a family and a having a career in banking in Northern California, she and Jim retired to Eugene in 1990. After their divorce, Beverly moved to Florence in 1995 to be closer to her sister Barbara, of Yachats. She then moved to Veneta in January 2014. Beverly was a beautiful, gen- erous, very determined and fiercely independent woman who lived her life and exited her life her way. She had traveled the world, with her last major trip being to Egypt. She was an accomplished pianist, a cat lover and volunteer for the humane society, where she was involved in cat adop- tions. She was a professional linguist and it was hard to get away with using improper English in her presence. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Private cremational rites were held through Burns’s Riverside Chapel Florence Funeral Home. HUGHES—Alice Maxine (Chambers) Hughes, 92, of Florence, passed away July 19, 2015. Alice, usually called Maxine, was born to Abe and Harriett Chambers while they resided in the Veneta and Elmira areas. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Charles, Roy and Leonard; and sisters Creta Fuller and Lenora Getchell. Her husband, Henry, passed away in 1982. Maxine married Henry Hughes (also known as Bert) and had two children: Gary and Monty. Maxine and Henry moved to Florence in 1949 as owner and operators of the Heceta Junction Market (market, gas station and trailer court). They later built several custom homes together and engaged in commercial fishing aboard the Honey Pot. Maxine was very active with Order of the Eastern Star, American Legion, Forty and Eight, the Grange, Van Fans of Florence, the Moose Lodge, the Florence Elks, Meals on Wheels and several other organizations throughout her residence in Florence. She was a wonderful mother and will be missed. She is survived by her son, Gary; grandchildren John, Henry and Catherine Navor; two great-grandchildren, Austin and Preston Navor; her son Monty; grandchildren Amber and Benjamin Hughes; great- grandchildren Ashlie Fitzsimmons, Christopher Bjorunrud, Damon Hughes and
