The event was co-hosted by Real Food Co-op and Homegrown Pub. The sold-out crowd of 50 dinner-ticket holders were treated to appetizers, local lamb, salmon and vegetable skewers, all grilled over coals by Jim Terry, one of Homegrown Pub’s owners. Fresh berries were the featured dessert. A dessert auction show-cas- ing homemade desserts earned $500 for the school’s garden. The project involves a series of raised wooden vegetable gardens around the perimeter of the elemen- tary school that will be used to grow vegetables for use by the school cafeteria during the coming school year. She takes over for Reverends Montee and Elizabeth Kennedy, who have been interim pastors at FUMC since January. Thompson attended and graduated from Lowell Union High School in Lowell, Ore. She received secondary degrees from the University of Oregon and Vancouver School of Theology, Vancouver, B.C. Over the years as a minister, Thompson has served in six United Methodist churches: Nooksak Indian in Everson, Wash.; Monroe, Ore.; Lyons, Ore.; New Meadows, Idaho; Jerome, Idaho; and Filer, Idaho. Additionally, she has had three Extension Ministry appointments beyond the local church: the Western Small C h u r c h Rural Life Center; the Northwest House of Theological Studies; and the Office of Town and Rev.
