SIUSLAW NEWS ❚ WEDNESDAY, JULY 8, 2015 FEC call to artists The Friends of the Florence Events Center and the FEC’s gallery committee invite artists to display their artistic cre- ations at the FEC during the months of September and October for a show titled: A Slash of Color. The exhibit will include 2D art, photography and 3D art. The cost to exhibit is $20 per rod, and each rod can hold up to three pieces of artwork, depending on size. An artist may also purchase more than one rod if they wish. In the locked display case, artists can display up to three pieces of 3D artwork for $20, as size allows. Applications and Guide- lines are available online at www. eventcenter.org, or at the FEC Office, 715 Quince. Lynnette Wikstrom, Diana Hackett and Alice Sichting- Burns all joined Coast Real Estate back in 2005, coming from different backgrounds and experiences, yet all con- verging upon successful careers in real estate, Johnson added. Wikstrom was previously a restauranteur, owning and operating Gingerbread Village in Mapleton for 25 years before selling the business and build- ing in 2004. Hackett, an Oregon coast native, held several positions in office management, insurance, and real estate in other areas before joining Coast Real Estate 10 years ago. Sichting-Burns first started at Coast Real Estate as a part- time secretary, progressing to broker in 2005. This year, the association awarded three scholarships, each in the amount of $3,500, to Elizabeth Wartnik, Kennedy Roylance and Natalie Madden. Her short-term plan is to become a music com- poser by earning a bachelor of science degree, then later pur- suing a doctorate degree at the University of Oregon to teach music composition and voice at the college level. Her long-range goal is to develop a musical theater com- pany as a medium to inspire excellence in the performing arts. Wartnik is a member of the National Honor Society and earned a 4.0 GPA, with the exception of one “B” during her high school career. She participated in cross WEDNESDAY THURSDAY country, chamber choir and was a wrestling statistician. Roylance, the 2015 Queen Rhododendra, has been accepted to Brigham Young University-Idaho, with plans to become a high school coun- selor. She would like to teach and facilitate youth in high school and her community, helping them to make physical- ly and emotionally healthy decisions that will help them become empowered adults. While at SHS, she was on the honor roll every semester from 2011-15, and was a mem- ber of the National Honor Society from 2012-15. She was a cheerleading captain her sen- ior year, senior class secretary and treasurer, as well as a library aide and instructional aide for special needs students. Madden will be attending Lane Community College in Eugene. She plans to attend for two years before transfering to George Fox University in Newberg. She plans to become a phys- ical therapist and wants to con- tribute to her community by healing and caring for people. During high school, she was involved in cheerleading, fit- ness and the arts. She is an honor roll student and worked part-time in the summer at Coastal Fitness, where she also volunteered. She helped teach gymnastics and swimming, and also earned a personal trainer endorsement. Madden also was heavily involved in local theater as an actress, costume designer and make-up artist.
