SIUSLAW NEWS ❚ SATURDAY, JUNE 27, 2015 Planes, cars and more to be at this year’s Wings, Wheels The sixth annual Wings and Wheels aircraft fly-in and car show will be Saturday, July 4, at the Florence Municipal Airport. The event is produced by the Florence-Siuslaw Lions Club and will feature nearly 20 local organizations, includ- ing the Florence Radio Controlled aircraft club, which will be flying through- out the day; The Florence Police Department; CERT; The Siuslaw Valley Fire and Rescue fire apparatus; the Central Oregon Coast British Car Club; the Central Oregon Military Vehicle Group and many more. New this year will be a per- formance by The Old Time Fiddlers, along with two per- formances by the Florence Dance Guild. There will also be DJ music all day. The Florence-Siuslaw Lions Club and the Ada Grange will be providing food throughout the day. The Lions Club will be sell- ing raffle tickets to support their scholarship fund with nearly $3,000 worth of items to be raffled off. For the first time, commem- orative t-shirts will be for sale by the Lions. Gates will open at 10 a.m. and a donation of $2 per car- 9 A Country music show opens today load will be asked at the gate, with plenty of parking provid- ed onsite at the airport. Members of the Siuslaw High School wrestling team will be parking cars and will receive the proceeds from the dona- tions collected. Trophies will be handed out for the car show beginning at 2:30 p.m. The show will close at 3 p.m., or following the final trophy presentation. Marty Adams will once again tickle the ivories as both the musical director and arranger, and Mike Jacobson will once again direct the show. “Who’s Gonna Fill Their Shoes?” features the vocal tal- ents of Nancy Pearson, who many will remember from her portrayal of Patsy Cline in “Always, Patsy” from a few summers ago; Denise Dee, who many would swear was Tammy Wynette reincarnated when she does “Stand By Your Man”; Jacobson, who wrote and directed last season’s “If I Didn’t Care” as well as this year’s offering; and newcomer Doug Bushwar, whose guitar artistry and vocal talents are deservedly respec- ted. The show also features the formidable keyboard artistry and vocal excellence of Marty Adams, Florence’s favorite musician. “Who’s Gonna Fill Their Shoes?” runs for two week- ends, kicking off what promis- es to be one of the Florence Playhouses most exciting sea- sons.
